Alec Ornstein
The past success of Alec Ornstein and rich potential of Ornstein Development can be attributed to his commitment and vision. Throughout the last 30+ years, Alec and the team at OLC (Ornstein Leyton Company) found and maximized the potential of real properties in and around the New York Metropolitan area, developing hundreds of homes as well as commercial properties. To position Ornstein Development for an expansive future in a broad spectrum of real estate development, Alec has built a truly innovative team of professionals. With his leadership and this deep pool of experience, Ornstein Development and its partners will move seamlessly from concept--whether it's developing a raw piece of land, leveraging the vision to identify opportunities or finishing and improving distressed or unfinished properties--to a finished product. His commitment is to work every detail and coordinate with municipalities to ensure a development--whether residential or commercial--of which a community can be justifiably proud.
For the investor, broker and land seller Alec's rich heritage and spheres of impact spans real estate companies, capital providers, elected officials, brand name suppliers, banks and mortgage companies. His experiences with these relationships translates into opportunities for profitable projects that help build communities and businesses.
Alec Ornstein's strong background combines finance, real estate, and development. He began his career at Central Federal Savings Bank (assets in excess of $1 billion) where he rose to hold the position of Senior Vice President for Commercial Real Estate lending and member of the Board of Directors. During his tenure, he was involved in general contracting of residential developments and joint venture/equity participation lending by managing the bank's wholly owned service corporations. In his executive capacity, he was responsible for commercial real estate lending, residential loan origination, construction lending and loan “work-outs."
From the bank, Alec joined what was at the time one of Long Island's largest home building organizations, where he was involved in the acquisition, finance, construction and marketing of many of the firm's new residential communities.
Finally, Alec took his vast industry know-how and co-created OLC. Over three+ decades, OLC has completed numerous residential developments, providing homes for over a thousand families throughout the New York Metropolitan area, along with many commercial projects as well.
Although OLC began with a focus on distressed properties--with a talent for revitalizing them and selling them out--the majority of OLC's projects continue to be fully realized, from entitlement to completion. OLC is known for impeccable construction with first line materials and floor plans, site plans and community amenities that make them favorites of the residents they serve. Because of this significant track record, OLC has had long standing relationships with capital providers... from private investment to a range of lenders, continuing deals whether or not the economy has cycled into recession by a considerable talent for debt restructuring. The result of all of this is that every project has been completed and provided satisfactory conclusions.
Alec presently resides on Long Island with his wife Jennifer. He is a two-time Past President and Chairman of the Board of NAHB's Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI), where he also serves as PAC co-chair and a Life Director. In addition to hobbies that include tennis and sailing he is also well involved in philanthropic efforts on behalf of the American Jewish Community and within his local synagogue.

Future PROJECTS
glen street apartments-glen cove, ny
Glen Street is an example of Ornstein Fetner Development's commitment to working with local government and the community to provide pathways to enable the revitalization of Long Island's downtowns such as Mineola, Huntington and Patchogue. OFD is proposing to develop an underutilized parcel that has been owned by a local family business for generations, and to build middle-market rental apartments. Because of its prominent location, this beautiful building will act as the gateway to the city as people travel from Glen Street into the downtown and waterfront.
Westbury
Another example of OFD's commitment to revitalizing downtowns is a project in the Village of Westbury. Here, OFD is proposing a middle-market rental apartment building that will enhance the downtown area and the efforts of the Village to provide additional housing opportunities that support local businesses and the community as a whole. These types of downtown revitalization is a prime focus of Ornstein Fetner Development.
RIVERHEAD
To add to the revitalization the downtown of Riverhead—the centerpiece of the East End—OFD is planning a mixed use building that will combine retail stores on the street level with five floors of apartments ranging from studios to 2-bedrooms. The rooftop will be designed as an amenities center looking over the Peconic River. This is clearly a mid to upper-level environment designed to bring in professionals, new families and mature individuals who will all contribute to the vibrant new Riverhead enviroment.
